Course Overview
This nationally recognised course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively control vehicle and pedestrian traffic using a stop-slow bat in Queensland. The Course Fees include Ready Reckoner and all course materials.
Course Delivery
Dates and Locations
The one-day classroom-based theory training takes place weekly in Cairns and fortnightly in Townsville. Click on the link at the bottom of this page for available dates and venue details.
Courses start at 8.00am. Participants are required to arrive 15 minutes early to present photo identification, ensure payment is finalised, and complete an enrolment form.
To minimise delays, course participants arriving later than 8.10am may be refused entry and will need to rebook their course.
Dress Code
Neat, casual clothing with closed in shoes.
Pre-Requisites
- Must have held Open/Provisional drivers’ licence within the last 5 years
- White Card/Blue Card
- Photo ID
- USI number
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Fees must be paid in full before the commencement of the course
Note: Your application to TMR will be subject to a criminal history and other suitability checks.
Some criminal convictions and traffic offences may exclude course participants from obtaining their accreditation. Further information may be obtained from TMR
Outcome
Upon successful completion, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following units:
- RIIWHS205E – Control traffic with a stop-slow bat
- RIIWHS201E – Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
- RIICOM201E – Communicate in the workplace
Students may then apply at a Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre for Traffic controllers accreditation, valid for three (3) years. (Fee for this Traffic Controllers Accreditation is to be paid directly to TMR)
